About Kraft Food Inc.
J. L. Kraft & Bros. Company started over a hundred years ago in 1903 when James Lewis Kraft rented a horse and wagon to sell cheese to small stores in Chicago, Illinois. After involving his four brothers into the business, James Kraft received a patent for his method of producing processed cheese in tins. J. L. Kraft & bros. Company reached the global market in 1924 when it established a sales office in London. In that same year, the name was changed to Kraft Cheese Company and the company went public. Kraft Cheese Company merged with Phenix Cheese Corporation in 1928 and the name was changed to Kraft-Phenix Cheese Corporation. By 1953, sales were topping the one billion dollar mark and 200 consumer products carried the Kraft name. The company became Kraft Inc. in October of 1976 and the corporation has not stopped growing and expanding since.
